Church of the Blessed Union

The Church of the Blessed Union is the most influential religious organization in Tulosz, where the Unionist religious tradition is dominant, and Vehira and Azane are recognized as co-equal Creator deities.

The church in Cosutanu is believed to be the oldest building in town. Ornate carvings set into the doors, frames and arches, many of them painted in bright colours, depict the glory of the Celestials, following their arcs inscribed through the heavens by Azane, under the watchful eye of Vehira. They feature inscriptions in Royal Tuloszian, suggesting the church was constructed before 1100.

Behind the church is the village cemetery. On the night of the 20 Trowel, seven people infected with Black Rot – possibly already ghouls, descended on the cemetery and attempted to exhume graves. They were engaged by the town guard, and one was killed. The others ran off.

Currently, two only people who have recovered from Black Rot, Isolde Gwynne and Ramona Surdo are in the Church, being cared for the Disciple and his Acolytes.

People who can typically be found here include:

Characters who are knowledgeable in architecture, carpentry can date the church from the methods used in its construction, or from its stylistic elements. The church is a single-nave stave church, using post and lintel construction and ore pine posts set on stone sills. Such constructions are typical of a period between 700 and 900, but in this region, usually more narrowly to between 750 and 850, making the church about 600 years old.

21C using Theology (-2) skill

Characters who are knowledgeable in theology, can date the church based on the representation, prominance and usage of various motifs, symbols and other religious iconography. Certain motifs used in the decoration of this church first began to be used in the early 8th century, while other symbols would not have been used later than perhaps the end of the 9th century, suggesting the church is approximately 600 years old.
