Travel

 

The world of Tear is a an enormous place, comprised of hundreds of individual states distributed across eleven continents, broken up into dozens of geographic regions, and separated by seas and oceans. Traversing this enormous world in search of adventure is an adventure in itself, and whether the destination is a forsaken ruin, and unexplored temple, an abandoned mine, a haunted castle, or the sanctuary afforded by thriving metropolis, the journey is as important as the destination.

Travel is very common, and almost everyone needs to travel at least semi-frequently within fifty or even a hundred kilometers of their home. Tenant workers selling their harvest will need to travel to a nearby city, miner looking for work will need to move on to the next encampment, and companions plying their trade may often range over hundreds of kilometers. While travel across or bewteen continents is much more rare, it still happens - global factions and powerful states have interests abroad, and many commodities are exchanged at the regional or global scale.

Altogether, this means that even though most individuals might never venture more than a couple hundred kilometers from their home over their lifetime, the networks and infrastructure for global travel are extremely robust. For those in search of adventure around the world, the road is open.
