Jumiran States

 

By early as 3800 BCB the fortress city of Chomutria was established in what is modern-day Mudinak. Possibly the first walled city on Tear, forces marching out of Chomutria to conquer the Jade River Valley would establish the nation state of Chomira in what is now southwestern Jumira. As will all the proto-Empires of the Second Epoch, Chomira would disappear during the Ash Winter. Organized city states would not be re-established in Jumira until sometime arounf 1500 BCB.

Golanicjan Jumira

Golanicjan Jumira is a protectorate of the Domain of Golanicja, which is the remnant of the Golanicjan Kingdom. It consists of the geographical region known as Eastreach, which is the northeastern tip of the Jumiran continent, above the Sarim and Dangar rivers. This territory was a collection of autonomous city states until it was captured during the orcish invasions.

To the southwest, the Jumiran Confederacy was formed, and armies and navies were mustered to repel the orcish forces, but they were never able retake these territories. Instead, these lands were liberated between 389 and 392 by forces from Golanicja, who claimed them as part of the Kingdom of Golanicja.

Golanicjan Jumira would remain a province of the Kingdom of Golanicja for over 800 years until the bankruptcy of the crown and the dissolution of the Kingdom. However, while most of Golanicja was liberated from central governance and turned over to local rule by emerging chartered cities, Golanicjan Jumira remained an official holding of the rump state.

The current Domain of Golanicjan is a constitutional monarchy, and Golanicjan Jumira is a protectorate controlled by a governor who is appointed by the governing council of the Domain of Golanicja.

Jumiran Confederacy

The Jumiran Confederacy is a collection of city states in central Jumira that united in confederation in 335 in response to the orcish invasions. While each of the individual city states in the confederacy remains autonomous, they are all joined in a trade alliance and contribute to mutual defense and infrastructure development agreements. The Confederacy is centrally administered from Orange Grove by delegates from each member state who are supported by courts empowered to moderate disputes between member states. Each member states also maintains a Confederate office and is required to maintain a Confederate Legion in battle-readiness.

Jumiran Free States

The Jumiran Free States are two large regional groups of loosely affiliated autonomous city states, one of which is located in the geographical region known as the Blood Jungle, and the other runs the length of the Jade River Valley down to the southwesternmost tip of the continent. These two regions are almost connected at the city of Chararaput, which itself is part of the Jumiran Confederacy.

Jumiran Incorporated Cities

The Jumiran Incorporated Cities are five autonomous city states in the Black Desert region of southwest Jumira that are largely under the control of private interests. Each of the cities here are governed by councils whose members are appointed by the officers of a handful of powerful Merchant Companies, Trade Guilds and Industrial Guilds that hold most of the lands of the Black Desert. While in a practical sense these city states function similarly to most other city states elsewhere on Tear, the governance and laws are structured first and foremost to protect the interests of the factions that control them.
