The Celestials

 

The Celestials are the benevolent deities of the people of Tear. While there are many different gods, and their names, relationships, powers and hierarchy change from one religion to the next, most major religions consistently arrange the Celestials into four major categories across three or four general tiers of power.

At the top are the Creators; usually some combination of Vehira, Azane and Azimzillit, sometimes with one being more important than the others, and sometimes with one being significantly minimized.

Next come the Siblings and the Versai - sometimes with the Siblings being more powerful and important and sometimes with Siblings and Versai being on the same tier and of equivalent power. The number of Siblings and Versai varies from one religion to the other, but normally there are between five and ten.

Finally come the Inghelii - these range considerably in power, importance and number from one religion to the next. In some religions, the more powerful Inghelii are equivalent to Siblings, in others they are minor deities or demi-gods, and in still others they are cast as little more than a collection of Celestial servants and underlings, often supported by a host of ascended mortal saints and heroes.
