Cosutanu Archives
The Cosutanu Archives are an important source of information. A thorough search of these records will help the players understand some of the history of Cosutanu, and will provide them many clues likely to lead them to the Radulesc Tomb, and help them in resolving the mystery and completing their quest.
Note: Searching the Cosutanu archives is not a matter of simply rolling a unch of Challenges one at a time. The players need to be specific about the kinds of things they are looking for, and the Director can check if there is an approporiate, relevent record, and then ask the players to roll. If what the players are searching for is not quite what is indicated, the Director can impose a penalty to the Challenge. Each Challenge should take about 1 hour (whether successful or not), though characters with appropriate skills can search for different things at the same time.
CHALLENGE
21C using Research or Search Skill or 21C using Locate SpellA collection of partially sorted records related to a family named Radolu have some records with the name Radulesc scattered within them. All of them are written in Royal Tuloszian, a language that died out more than 300 years ago (even those that are more recent than that), making them extremely difficult to make sense of.
CHALLENGE
21C using Research or Search Skill or 21C using Locate SpellThe oldest record they can find relating the Radulescs is from the year 712 (over 700 years old!). The most recent record they can find is from the year 1212. There are a scarce few older records related to a ‘Radolesciu’ family, but it is not clear if they are the same people.
CHALLENGE
21C using Cartography, Research or Accounting SkillThe Radulesc family seems to have been prominent, wealthy and powerful in Cosutanu - having owned a great deal of land in the region.
CHALLENGE
21C using Cunning or 21C using Administration SkillThe paucity of records related to the Radulesc family suggests intentional removal or destruction of records at some point.
CHALLENGE
21C using Cartography or Geography SkillSurvey maps seem to indicate that Ul Mina Puciosa operated for about 100 years, and was abandoned sometime prior to 900. Sometime prior to the year 1084, the mine was purchased by the Radulesc family.
CHALLENGE
21C using Cartography or Administration SkillVillage maps dating from the late Imperial Era indicate that the Radulesc family owned the large orchards at the north end of the village, alongside the river Prulme.
CHALLENGE
21C using Research or Administration SkillSome death records for many different people suggest that someone named Valor Radulesc was a priest in Cosutanu in the early 1200s.
CHALLENGE
21C using Research or Administration SkillThere are death records for eleven members of the Radulesc family, all dated 22 Fig, 1212. None of these is Valor Radulesc.
CHALLENGE
21C using Research SkillThere is a Letter to Severu Nectria from Doma Cosutanu of Bulostioi, dated 1212. It includes the name Gorgu Radulesc. Once disocvered, the letter will need to be translated from Royal Tuloszian by speakers of the Tuloszian language, or anyone with the Linguistics skill.
CHALLENGE
21C using Psychometry SpellThe use of this spell will reveal the presence of Daciana Mitriu making a connection between several disparate, ancient documents. As she decyphers what the collected documents seem to suggest, she experiences a wave of satisfaction that overwhelms feelings of bitter jealousy and resentment. The vision will not allow the players to locate more specific records, though if the Caster of the Psychometry Spell performs any of the above Challenges, they gain +3 on the roll, or if they spend their time assisting other characters (rather than searching themselves), they can provide +1 to all of the other characters' Challenges.
