Aisipaerd
Select Subtype:
Description:
An aisipaerd is a large omnivorous quadruped that looks like a cross between a horse and a cat, with long flowing white hair, and extremely wide paws allowing them to walk over ice or dense snow. Aisipaerds live in cold climates, ranging freely across the taiga, and sometimes venturing into harsher tundra or milder temperate forests in search of prey. Aisipaerds are curious, and somewhat social animals that live in small family units of a dozen or so individuals in the winter, but can come together into large herds in the warmer months when food is more plentiful and breeding happens. They are excellent hunters; able to bring down deer, elk, or other large animals, and they can even hunt seal, sea lion and walrus.
The curiosity and sociability of aisipaerds have made it possible to tame them from the wild and to train them as mounts, though efforts at domestication and captive breeding usually fail. A tamed and trained aisipaerd will even share a kill with a rider they are bonded too; making them exceptionally valuable as mounts. With dedicated training they can even be trained to ride into battle. An aisipaerd can be trained to carry a rider, but will not carry a load on its back.
Variants:
Standard Aisipaerd
The standard aisipaerds may be encountered in the wild, or encountered as a standard mount.
War Aisipaerd
With expert training, Aisipaerds taken as pups can be trained to enter into mounted combat with a rider, but they will not take to wearing any form of armour.
