Dragon: Swamp
Description:
Swamp dragons are among the least intelligent of dragons, but their elusive nature and fearsome appearance make them among the most terrifying. Swamp dragons are amphibious and can stay underwater indefinitely. They typically stalk prey from beneath the brackish, murky water they conceal themselves in - striking instantly to deliver a quick kill.
Swamp dragons have long, slithering bodies with six short legs. Instead of scales, they are covered in an articulated carapace of many long, metallic, black bands - more like the exoskeleton of a millipede than the scales of a snake. Their teeth and claws are translucent and milky white, giving them a sickly, unsettling appearance. Their blood is a powerful corrosive, and while they can be damaged by ordinary weapons, the weapons usually fair worse than the dragon does. They can also spray this corrosive blood from their eyes, covering their enemies in highly acidic slime that can dissolve almost anything.
Special:
As a natural defense, swamp dragons have a very high blood pressure, and when they take damage to their Health from impaling edged weapons in melee, their extremely corrosive blood squirts out. The damaging weapon, as well as the person weilding it, are automatically considered to be exposed to the swamp dragon's acidic blood.
Additionally, a swamp dragon can expend a point of Resolve to squirt their corrosive blood from ducts in their eyes in an 12 hex long jet. Anyone along the line may attempt to dodge, but blocking with a shield results in both the shield and the defender being exposed. Anyone covered in this acid will find their weapons, armour and equipment quickly destroyed before the acid starts dissolving them.
