Description:

Ice dragons are conspicuously bird-like in their appearance. The thick scales on their shoulders and backs give way to downy feathers that fill out their tails, and their broad feathered wings are more avian in appearance than the leathery wings of most other dragons. Their heads are far less reptilian than those of most dragons, with their wide, round eyes facing forward, over a typically bright yellow beak-like snout - similar to that of an owl. Their arms and legs - with thick scales again sprouting downy feathers from beneath them - end in vicious, bright yellow talons reminiscent of those of raptor birds. They can only attack with these talons while airborne; when on the ground they are limited to biting with their beaks. Slighter and lighter than other dragons on average, they are exceptionally fast, and will use their speed to their advantage. They are also more intelligent and will use skills and spells against their opponents.

Ice Dragons tend to inhabit icy, polar regions and high mountaintop peaks. They can breathe a jet of frost that will freeze a humanoid solid.

Special:

Ice dragons are immune to Frost damage.

Ice dragons can expend a point of Resolve to spray a cone of freezing ice over a 30 degree arc, to a range of 17 hexes. Anyone in the cone may attempt to dodge or block if they have a large shield. Those who fail to defend take 5d10+1 damage and must also resist the attack using Physical. Those who fail to resist become encased in ice and unable to move or perform any action for as many turns as they failed their resistance by. While encased in this block of ice, they are afforded Protection equal to the amount they failed the roll by, and they can be freed by doing twice that much damage to the ice - often delivered as a fatal bite from the dragon itself.
