Dragon: Forest
Description:
Forest dragons are among the most powerful of dragonkind, as well as the most intelligent. They are also the most likely to be tolerant of other intelligent creatures, and will not typically be immediately hostile when encountered. Forest dragons have a classically 'dragonlike' appearance; scaly, dinosaur-like bodies with powerful legs, somewhat smaller arms, and large, leathery wings protruding from their backs. Their colourations run from deep greens to dull browns, and include a wide range of neutral shades and earth tones - though in the autumn, many forest dragons that live in deciduous forests will see their scales change colour into bright yellows, reds and oranges before they molt.
Forest dragons consider themselves to be protectors and wardens of the natural world, and may ally themselves with faefolk, plant creatures, or other forest dwellers. Some believe that forest dragons are actually faeries and not wyrms at all. Humanoids are most often made aware of the existence of a forest dragon when one is seen fighting forest fires.
Special:
Forest dragons are powerfully magical, and are immune to all normal weapons. A forest dragon can expend a point of Resolve to spray a cone of searing steam over a 30 degree arc, to a range of 24 hexes. The attack to deploy this high pressure cone of steam is performed as a 21C, and anyone caught inside it has no defense. The searing steam does 8d8+1 damage, and armour does not protect. This attack will totally extinguish any natural fire it engulfs, and will create a fire break in the area that will last for several hours. Flaming or fire-based creatures take double damage from this attack.
