Description:

Skeletons are among the most common forms of undead, wandering aimlessly over their ancient barrow grounds or battlefields. They will attack anything living on sight, and will always fight until they are destroyed. More often than not, skeletons are the animated slaves of necromancers or other more powerful undead, such as liches, mummies or vampires - typically the animated dead of soldiers from some ancient battle. Whenever an undead army arises under the command of a necromancer or powerful undead ruler, skeletons will generally represent the majority of the horde.

Special:

Skeletons are immune to poison, and disease though blessed weapons do +25% damage to them. As undead, their attacks are considered magical. Additionally, due to the spacing between their bones, arrows, bolts, spears, javelins and sling bullets can pass right through them, and they receive +3 to their Dodge against these weapons.

Variants:

As skeletons are typically the animated or risen dead of ancient armies, there are a wide range of variants that are common everywhere. Individually, a skeleton is not much of a threat, but an organized fighting group, using mixed battlefield tactics, can be extremely dangerous.

Standard Skeleton

The most common form of skeleton is light infantry warrior with light armour and a sword. Perhaps these were standard enlisted soldiers before their deaths.

Skeleton Acolyte

Skeleton acolyte were low ranked battle mages in life who now weave their simple destruction magic in service of darker powers.

Skeleton Archer

Skeletal archers are quite common, often coming in units of half a dozen or more. They are savvy enough to use their Area Denial perk to help infantry units control the battle field, and will not hesitate to concenrate their fire on dangerous enemies.

Skeleton Conscript

Skeleton conscripts are unarmoured and carry only the lightest weapons. Likely in life, they were peasants conscripted or pressed into battle.

Skeleton Heavy Infantry

Skeletal heavy infantry are well armed and armoured, and even an individual is a serious threat to an untrained civilian.

Skeleton Hoplite

Like skeletal archers, skeleton hoplites typically form into a unit of 4-8; in this case a phalanx. With their large shields and spears, they will work as a unit to anchor approaching enemies, and to bulwark to protect one another. Individually they are weak, but their fighting tactic is extremely effective against unprepared enemies.
