Description:

It is unclear whether penegills are a sort of large flying fish, or a sort of winged reptile. They have long lean bodies with wide silvery wings that expand like folding fans, and look similar to the huge dorsal fins of a marlin. The fan edge of their wings is razor sharp, and they have vicious hooks at the central joint on the leading edges of their wings. Their heads are long and pointed, like a pteradon, and their beaks are as sharp as spears. Their fierce talons have a serrated inner edge for better capturing the large fish or unfortunate sailors they prefer to feed on. Penegills usually attack in small flocks of about a dozen. If they can swoop down undetected on their prey, they will snatch victims and carry them off to eat, but if detected on their approach, they will often swarm, using their incredible speed and their wings, hooks, and talons to lash at the rigging of a sailing ship, quickly brining down it sails and causing chaos and confusion aboard.

Special:

Penegills prefer to fight from the air and will loop and circle their prey often coming in at incredible speed from many directions at once. When attacking from their in this way they use their long beaks to stab their victims as a gore attack, or their talons to claw them. If a Penegill is forced to land, it can continue to gore with its beak, while slashing with the edges of its fin-like wings, which are as effective as bastard swords.
