Basilisk
Description:
Basilisks are sometimes referred to as serpent kings for their resemblance to snakes, and for the golden ‘comb’ that rises from the top of their head, like that of a rooster, and which resembles a majestic crown. Basilisks are like giant, stout snakes with thick, serpentine bodies and four short legs. They don’t use their legs so much to walk, as to steer and help maneuver as they slither along the ground on their bellies like snakes. These legs also facilitate a Basilisk scaling walls or rock-faces, though their short legs are not effective as weapons. A Basilisk has the jaws and venomous fangs of a snake, but its mouth also has a distinct beak-like keratin covering. Basilisks inject a deadly venom with their bite, but much worse is the ability of the Basilisk to simply kill with its gaze alone.
Special:
Basilisks are tough and dangerous, and they have a variety of different abilities that make them hard to counter. Their size and speed allow them to control the flow of combat, and they will readily Entangle and Constrict victims if possible. As with all Constrict attacks, the first attack must be an attempt to Entangle using the Effect Attack, after which, each turn that the victim does not escape, a Basilisk can roll a 21 Challenge against a helpless target to apply either Fast or Strong Constrict damage. A Basilisk can still bite and apply its venom while doing this - and the victim is unable to defend, and is attacked using the rules for attacking a Helpless opponent.
