Amorph
Description:
Amorphs are shape-shifting, chameleonic man-eaters who use their uncanny ability to disguise themselves as ordinary objects to ambush their prey, gaining surprise against their victims. They are slow moving, and once identified, they are not a serious threat; their entire strategy depends on a successful ambush. They are often encountered in groups of half a dozen or more - possibly familial pods - and they will typically wait to coordinate their attacks simultaneously, seemingly in an attempt to maximizing the opportunity for each member of the group to feed. Limited studies into these creatures have not shown any further degree of organization or social behaviour.
Special:
Amorphs can convincingly assume the form of virtually anything whose total volume is less than about one half a cubic meter. It takes only one turn for them to assume a completely new form. Their preferred forms for conducting their ambushes against humanoids include bed frames, door frames, chests, desks and chairs. For an Amorph, much depends on the success of its initial surprise attack. Individuals will always wait for the optimal moment to strike to ensure the maximum effect, and unless something is done to detect them and prevent it, the victim will be surprised. Groups of Amorphs will attempt to coordinate across the group to maximize their collective success and survival.
