Aqrabuamelu

Description:

An Aqrabuamelu is a terrifying chimeric creature with the head and torso of a humanoid (of any gender or species) and the abdomen, legs, pincers and tail of a giant scorpion. They are intelligent, and can sometimes even speak, but they are quite deranged, as though suffering from crippling physical and psychological agony. They will almost always go Berserk in a fight.

Unlike humanoids, aqrabuamelus are purely solitary, and do not live in social groups. They may be encountered in small groups of less than half a dozen, but this is likely because their ecological niche is narrow - they tend only to live in badlands and deserts, and once they locate a good hunting ground, tend not to wander far from where they nest and hunt. In these regions, they will most commonly be encountered close to roads and near water sources. During the day, they will typically be found resting immobile, sunning themselves on large rocks. In the cold of night, they will tend to retreat to caves, abandoned structures or other cover.

An aqrabuamelu is very dangerous in combat. In addition to having the pincers and stinger of a giant scorpion, they also use weapons, and they can attack with their pincers, weapons and stinger all at once - though they will typically not sting until an opponent is grappled. An aqrabuamelu will always attempt to grapple opponents with its pincers enabling it to follow-up against grappled opponents with weapons or a sting. The agrabuamelu's venom is identical to that of the giant scorpion; fast-acting and highly lethal.
