Xinxenzi
Description:
A xinxenzi is a strange chimeric creature with the body and head of a medium-sized monkey, but with six long, ropey tentacles in place of articulated arms and legs. They can attack with up to four of these in any turn while still maintaing their considerably mobility. Sometimes called an 'octopus monkey', a xinxenzi moves through trees and canopy, swinging and climbing like an ape, but when it fights, it attempts to grapple and strangle or suffocate its prey. They cannot use weapons or tools, but they will pick up stones or other heavy objects and throw them if threatened.
Similar to primates, xinxenzi live in small groups, usually numbering around a dozen. It is not clear if these are 'family' units, or even if xinxenzi can reproduce. Some suggest this primate-like social behaviour is vestigal, and chimerism simply never 'undid' the behavious. In any case, a single xinxenzi is not very dangerous on its own, but a group of them can create quite a problem for even a seasoned group of adventurers.
Special:
Xinxenzi are fast and agile fighters, and they will use their Swinging and Mobility perks to enter, attack, and retreat before they can be attacked back, making them dangerous harrassment fighters.
A xinxenzi will attempt to Entangle opponents using its Constrict attack and then strangle or suffocate them. As with all Constrict attacks, the first attack must be an attempt to Entangle using the Effect Attack, after which, each turn that the victim does not escape, the xinxenzi can choose to automatically apply strong damage from their Constrict attack.
