Description:

Nettlepods are poorly understood creatures, and most naturalists are undecided as to whether or not they should even be classified as creatures, or simply as ambulatory (albeit dangerous) seed pods. A Nettlepod resembles a stout, overwatered green bean that stumbles around on churning bed of tendrils and leaves, propelling it forward in search of a victim. Nettlepods are almost impossible to study for a range of reasons.

First, they have only ever been observed in areas of dense vegetation. Second, they seem to only become active during the night. And, third, they explode with enormous force and project a cloud of spores whenever they get within approximately four meters of any animal species.

The spores of Nettlepods seems to cause mild infections and diseases, but ultimately, it seems as though their purpose is to cover intruding creatures with spores, and scare them into running in different directions.

Special:

The ambition of a Nettlepod is only to explode itself next to an animal that can carry its spores over a longer range than it could reach on its own. It has no other offensive abilities, and is not capable of defending itself in melee combat.

Whenever a Nettlepod gets within 2 hexes of another living creature that is not a plant, it will explode at the end of its turn. A Nettlepod explosion does 4d of damage to all adjacent hexes. This damage is halved in the hexes adjacent to those, and quartered in the next ring of hexes.
