Description:

Manshrooms are strange, vaguely humanoid, ambulatory fungi that typically stand between 120cm and 180cm in height. They exhibit an enormous variety of shapes and color variations, from taller, slender varieties to shorter varieties with wide, disk-shaped heads and everything in between. Their colors are typically in contrast to their environment, either to warn potential scavengers that they are toxic, or perhaps to attract certain creatures that spread their spores.

Manshrooms have been known to fight with weapons scavenged from their victims, but they do not seem to have any ability to make their own tools or weapons and do not seem to have any known culture or social structure.

Manshroom tops (ie: their heads) are prized as alchemical ingredients.

Special:

Manshrooms live in dark caves or ruins which tend to be overgrown with wet, putrid smelling fungal blooms. They do not need to breathe and they can see perfectly in total darkness. They are only rarely encountered outdoors, and in these cases, encounters tend to be with groups of 6-10 of the smaller spore variant.

A manshroom will release a cloud of its Bile Spore automatically the first time it is struck in any 24 hour period.

Anyone struck by a manshroom will also be exposed to the fungal infection Redscale.

Variants:

Manshroom variants include the Bloomer and the Spore:

Manshroom Bloomer

Bloomers are a larger variant of the manshroom - perhaps simply a larger individual, or perhaps one of a later lifecycle. They are significantly more massive and more powerful, sometimes reaching 250cm in height.

Manshroom Spore

Manshroom spores are smaller, likely younger variants of the manshroom, averaging only 60cm to 100cm in size. These are most commonly encountered outdoors and at night far from the cave or ruin where they first sprouted, possibly in search of a new location for a 'lair'.
