Spirit: Water
Select Subtype:
Description:
Water spirits inhabit the seas, lakes and rivers of the world. Of all the natural spirits, they are the most rarely encountered for they prefer to inhabit the boundless deep where most humanoids never venture. They are, however, well known to merfolk to other aquatic creatures that inhabit the deep.
Special:
Water spirits are immune to all normal weapons, poison and disease, as well as to flame attacks, though they take +50% damage from frost attacks. When immersed in water, they regenerate their Health at a rate of 3 per turn, and they are also considered permanently Invisible, as per the spell, meaning attackers are always fighting blind.
Variants
Water Spirit variants include Standard Water Spirits, sometimes called Mernoma, and Lesser Water Spirits, sometimes called Aqui.
Mernoma
Mernoma can muster themselves into a cohesive form that can move around on land, and can flow through small gaps and reform on the other side at will. The effort required to maintain their form outside of water is enormous, and Mernoma lose Stamina at a rate of 1 per turn while doing so. In an extremely arid environment, they will also lose Health at the same rate, and will quickly perish.
If a Mernoma is destroyed too quickly - with the blow that takes it to 0 Health doing more than 1/3 of its total Health in damage, the sudden release of energy will spawn d3 Aqui.
Aqui
Aqui are the livings spirits of streams or brooks, and similar to their larger cousins, the Mernoma, they are almost undetectable. They are excessively shy and elusive, and will almost never engage in combat unless forced to, but they are more curious than most other nature spirits, and have been known to charm humanoids and lure them into the water, which is unfortunately often fatal.
Aqui are immune to all normal weapons, poison and disease, as well as to flame attacks, though they take +50% damage from frost attacks. When immersed in water, they regenerate their Health at a rate of 1/turn, and they are also considered permanently Invisible, as per the spell, meaning attackers are always fighting blind.
Aqui cannot exist outside of water, and if they are removed from water, they will dissipate and die almost instantly.
