Spirit: Storm
Select Subtype:
Description:
Storm spirits embody the turbulent electrostatic forces of the atmosphere. They are able to harness wind, rain and lightning to do their bidding.
Storm spirits delight in chaos and destruction, and have no interest in working with, for, or even around humanoids. Unlike similar spirits of Earth, Water, Frost or Air, Storm spirits seem to have a transient existence; emerging as blips of sentient chaos from seeming nothingness, wreaking terrible destruction for unknown reasons, and dissipating again on their own - whether they continue to exist in this ‘diffuse’ state is unknown. Storm spirits typically form as a side effect of a powerful storm, though they can be summoned and controlled by powerful magic.
Special:
Storm spirits are immune to all normal weapons, poison and disease, as well as to frost. Shock attacks - including Lighting - restore their Health instead of doing damage.
Variants
Storm Spirit variants include Standard Storm Spirits, sometimes called Frtoma, and Lesser Storm Spirits, sometimes called Fulmi.
Frtoma
The very presence of a Frtoma causes a storm to form around them within 2km, and this storm means that if they choose to cast the Stormcall Spell, it begins its effect instantly. Additionally, when casting Stormcall, they pay only half the Concentration Cost (11 instead of 21).
If a Frtoma is destroyed too quickly - with the blow that takes it to 0 Health doing more than 1/3 of its total Health in damage, the sudden release of energy will spawn d3 Fulmi.
Frtoma are powerful spell casters and their Destruction Spells are themed around rain, wind and electricity.
Fulmi
Fulmi are tiny spirits of living electrostatic energy sometimes referred to as ‘shock devils’ in the same sense that small dusty whirlwinds are referred to as dust devils. They tend to live in temperate climates where weather conditions create the high contrast pressure zones in which they thrive. Some speculate that Fulmi are the dissipated forms of Frtoma; the remnants of their chaotic rage left behind after their passing. Others speculate that Frtoma are created by the convergence of many Fulmi, or that Fulmi themselves can be ‘inflated’ by the power of storms to become Frtoma. Due to their rarity and the difficulty and danger in studying them, no one really knows for sure.
