Description:

Air spirits are the living embodiment of the air and the winds. Normally, their existence goes totally unnoticed, making them aloof, and generally disinterested in mortal affairs. Their presence can be felt in strong gusts of wind, and during storms, and their passing is what speeds ships on their course, and carries the pollen and seeds that fertilize plants and crops, but aside from these passive actives, they will not generally engage with humanoids unless they have good reason - such as when they are summoned or otherwise controlled by means of powerful magic, usually in an attempt to control the winds or weather for strategic or industrial purposes. When provoked in this way, that can be extremely dangerous.

Air spirits are almost impossible to see, through they may pick up dust and fog and can leave contrails in their wakes, but trying to discern their form is exceedingly difficult.

Special:

Air spirits are immune to all normal weapons, poison and disease, as well as to shock and frost attacks, though they take normal damage from fire. They are considered permanently Invisible, as per the spell, meaning attackers are always fighting blind. Additionally, Air spirits can flow through the tiniest gaps at will; under doors, through key holes, or through any gap that is not air tight. Combined with their tremendous speed and virtual invisibility, they prefer to fight using harassment tactics; ambushing, striking, retreating, and ambushing again, wearing their opponent down over time.

Variants

Air Spirit variants include Standard Air Spirits, sometimes called Vendoma, and Lesser Air Spirits, sometimes called Aeri.

Vendoma

Aeri

Aeri are smaller, gentler cousins of Vendoma who pass their existences largely unobserved as the flit about on winds and breezes, minding their own business. Their aloofness and detachment, combined with their virtual invisibility, means they often pass completely unnoticed. However, when generated as a consequence of the destruction of a Vendoma, they are much more likely to be hostile.

If a Vendoma is destroyed too quickly - with the blow that takes it to 0 Health doing more than 1/3 of its total Health in damage, the sudden release of energy will spawn d3 Aeri.
