Faedrake

Description:

Faedrakes are sometimes referred to as 'fairy dragons', and they combined the power, size and agility of dragons, with the magical capability, speed and cunning of fae. Ironically, faedrake look more like 'classical' dragons that most dragons, with generally reptilian appearances, larger hind legs and smaller forelegs, though they are quite lean. Their skin is not scaly, but is somewhat rubbery and irridescent; usually a bright teal, magenta, or cyan. Their gossamer wings are large and broad and patterned like those of butterflies, and they leave a glowing trail of so-called 'fairy dust' wherever they fly.

Faedrakes are not beasts or monsters, but are sentient, intelligent fae with goals and intentions aligned with fae ruling classes. They are powerful magic users and will use their spells and abilities to great effect in and out of combat.

Special:

Faedrakes are covered in a glowing powder often referred to as 'fairy dust', and they leave this powder in glowing trail in their wake as they move (as do many other fae). Uniquely, faedrake can shake their wings to disperse a large cloud of this powder, which acts as a kind magical-toxic hallucinogen.

When a faedrake disperses faedrake dust, it creates a cloud in a 2 hex radius around the faedrake. Alternately, it can disperse this dust as it flies, leaving a swath of it along its flight path over an area 3 hexes wide by 6 hexes long. This cloud of dust is easily visible, and glows in the dark (and even glows in magical darkness).

Faedrakes can cast the Swarm Form spell. Invariably, the form taken is that of a cloud of butterflies. Faedrakes will use this spell to escape if they are seriously threatened or badly injured.
