Siren
Description:
Sirens are strange, androgynous water faeries that might be mistaken for merfolk in appearance, but who are in fact terrifying predators. They are most commonly encountered in rivers and streams where roads and crossings veer close to their shores, but they can also be found on small islands or in pleasant coves with sandy beaches where a weary traveller might seek to relax and refresh. They will often stalk potential prey for hours, using magic to lure potential victims away from any companions so they can be be taken one at a time.
Due to some unknown faerie magic, a siren is always perceived by potential victims as being of a gender to which the victim is attracted. Starting from this fundamental deceit, a siren will attempt to seduce its prey to join it in the water, where it will drown it and then devour it.
Special:
A siren will attempt to avoid physical combat at all costs - seeking to use magic and cunning to seduce its victims and lure them into the water. Once in or near the water, a siren will attempt to puts its victim to sleep, entangle it, or use some other magic to facilitate drowning it.
If necessary, a siren may attempt to grapple their opponent using their claws. After being grappled, each turn that the victim does not escape, the siren can roll a 21 Challenge against a helpless target to apply either Fast or Strong claw damage. If the victim fails to escape, the siren will drag them at their Base Move further into the water until they can be drowned. Damage and effects of drowning are determined by the Director, but if they do not escape fairly quickly, they will certainly die.
