Jaini
Description:
The Jaini are treacherous spirits with extraordinary magical powers. Some believe they used to be gods, but that they were not accepted among the Celestials, who viewed them as too deceitful, and they were not accepted among the Infernals, as they were simply not cruel enough. Consequently, the powerful but lonely Jaini fill the strange niche of incredibly powerful beings who are neither invested in mortal affairs, but who are also attracted to interfering with them - perhaps out of boredom. Jaini have been know to secretly infiltrate the courts or councils or powerful governments or other organizations - usually posing as charming foreign dignitaries. They delight in pitting competing interests within powerful organizations against one another and inflating tensions and misgivings until conflict erupts, then watching in delight as war breaks out. If revealed, a Jaini will usually just reveal itself and leave, disappointed to have been robbed of the joy of observing the consequences of its machinations, but rarely particular vengeful about it. If provoked into battle, however, a Jaini can be a terribly, deadly foe.
Special:
Jaini are typically not interested in combat, and are far more likely to talk to small groups of adventurers about their knowledge of local history and organizations than to attack them. Indeed, they may often be helpful; offering healing and sharing information. When provoked, however, or if forced into combat, Jaini are incredibly fierce. While they prefer to use magic and trickery to tip the sales in a conflict, they will almost always begin by conjuring Spirit Arms and Armour to ensure they are prepared for any physical confrontation. Given their skill in magic, their spirit weapons can be incredibly dangerous.
