Description:

Second only to the named Celestial Princes who are effectively immortal deities, Arkangels are the highest ranking and most powerful caste of Celestial beings. They rule over their Celestial realms in many overlapping and interlocking webs of political hierarchy. An Arkangel may equally be a Duke or Duchess, a Marquis or Marquise, or a Count or Countess - their titles, commands and holdings are as numerous as there are words to describe them. They are typically held to be - and certainly perceive themselves to be - creatures of light, and if encountered in the mortal realms, will often be helpful and benevolent - if not somewhat patriarchal - to humanoids. Ultimately, however, what separates them from their Infernal cousins is far from obvious; they are not immortal, and so they constantly struggle and bicker among themselves for the favour of their divine rulers in hopes of achieving status as eternal beings. While they hold themselves above all mortals, they are certainly not above duplicity, treachery, and in some cases open bloodshed on a massive scale. Arkangels who succumb to evil and who lust for power may find themselves cast out of the Celestial realms and transformed into Fallen. Arkangels are luminous beings; light radiates from them, and their true forms are nigh impossible to discern. When they choose to deal with mortals, they will typically use their magical abilities to alter their appearances and make themselves more relatable.

Special:

Arkangels are immune to normal weapons, poison and disease, though weapons Blessed by Infernal worshipping Priests do +25% damage to them. Their own weapons and armour are considered magical. They can fly using their wings when in their natural form, but even when assuming other forms, they may fly at will. Like Angels, Arkangels emanate light from their bodies at will. This light cannot be used to attack or blind, but they are immune to the effects of darkness - magical or otherwise. Arkangels are not immortal, and can be destroyed, but they will never die of age or illness.
