Animated Painting

Description:

Animated paintings are unique magical creatures. It is not clear whether they are created as paintings and given a magical semblance of life - similar to a golem, or whether they have somehow been used to capture and imprison someone in the form of a painting forever. Either way, animated paintings appear for all intents and purposes to be ordinary portraits unless they choose to reveal themselves or unless Detect Magic is used to discover their true nature. Isolated and desperately lonely, animated paintings will use their considerable magical abilities - principally the spells of the Evocation College - to enthrall their victims in an attempt to seduce them into staying with them. Unwary victims can be trapped indefinitely, unable to escape the will of the painting, and eventually starving to death.

Special:

Animated paintings use a range of Evocation spells in an attempt to prevent their victims from leaving them. Most typically, they rely on Suggestion and Charm to drain away a victim’s Composure in order to permanently enthrall them, but they can cast a few other spells as well.

Because they are immobile, animated paintings cannot defend themselves from physical attack, and are considered defenseless targets.They are immune to poison and disease, but take quadruple damage from fire. They can see perfectly in total darkness.
