Octopus, Giant
Description:
The giant octopus is the terror of the sea. They can devour dozens of sailors in minutes, and can even wrap their enormous tentacles around entire ships, shattering their hulls, and dragging them to the bottom of the sea. A normal encounter with a giant octopus - is such an event can ever said to be normal, involves sailors attempting to hack the tentacles of the creatures away from the rigging of the ship before being plucked off the deck and eaten. Actually killing a giant octopus before it cuts its losses and flees is almost unheard of.
Special:
The giant octopus can attack every turn with each of its eight tentacles - potentially doing an incredible amount of damage. Its preferred method of dealing with opponents, however, is to grab them. With their Constrict attack, they can Entangle enemies, and enemies who are Entangled can be dragged under water. As with all Constrict attacks, the first attack must be an attempt to Entangle using the Effect Attack, after which, each turn that the victim does not escape, the Giant Octopus can roll a 21 Challenge against a helpless target to apply either Fast or Strong Constrict damage. Additionally, if the victim weighs less than 200kg, the Giant Octopus can pull it into the water. A submerged victim will take damage and drown at a rate determined by the Director unless they manage to escape and swim to the surface. Additionally, if there is debris or rubble nearby, such as near the shore, the sea floor, or when attacking a vessel, a giant octopus can elect to use some or all of its tentacles to gather up and wrap itself in protective debris. Each tentacle devoted to this effort, provides +2 to Protection, so a fully defensive giant octopus would have a Protection of 16.
