Disciple Lukan Paniut

Lukan Paniut is a Disciple of the Church of the Blessed Union. He is a happy, if somewhat witless porcine man, perhaps a bit young to hold his position but otherwise unexpectional in any way. He cares for his flock, and he diligently prepares his sermons and performs all the priestly duties. He takes good care of his things and insists his acolytles do likewise; all of them wear spotless, well-maintained robes, and their shoes, which are well-worn, are clean and well cared for.

Lukan Paniut can be found at the Church of the Blessed Union.

TOPIC: attending to the sick

If the party inquires about his efforts to contain the disease or to care for the infected, he will expain that they could only do their best.

DISCIPLE LUKAN PANIUT

Regrettably, neither myself nor my acolytes have the magical or medical skills to cure this terrible disease. In the beginning, we simply used our healing magic to soothe them, but the disease continued to progress. By the time we understood what it was, it was too late, and had spread to several families. Now we cannot even enter their homes to comfort them for fear of the disease. I pray you can help them.

TOPIC: potions or scrolls

If the party inquire about cure potions or scrolls, Lukan will explain what happened, and confess that he should have been more diligent in getting the recently depleted stock replenished. While the consequences have been dire, a reasonable person would not consider the fact that he did not immediately replace the potions to be a significant failing.

DISCIPLE LUKAN PANIUT

While we had kept several curative potions in our stores for many years, last winter came with a very difficult fever that claimed a few of our elderly as well as a newborn innocent. We agreed with the council then to use our reserve to contain that disease, and it worked. Unfortunately, with my other duties, I did not prioritize replacing those potions quickly enough - I figured we had until winter. May the Watchful Mother have mercy on my soul.

TOPIC: Ghouls exhuming the corpse of Gavriela Nectria

If the party ask about the ghouls that attempted to exhume Gavriela Nectria's corpse, he will relate to them the horror of the event, but has no particularly useful or actionable information to provide.

DISCIPLE LUKAN PANIUT

It was horrible. We awoke on the night of 20 Trowel to the sound of savage howling in the cemetery. A large number of the infected had gathered, a couple them even with tools, and they were digging into the soft earth where we had just laid poor Gavriela Nectria to rest the previous morning. Fortunately, they did not manage to get to the corpse before the guard descended on them… a short battle ensued. One was slain and the rest scattered. We immediately tended to the guards, and fortunately, none of them had been scratched or bitten.

TOPIC: fighting a ghost

If the party ask for any advice about how to confrong a ghost, he can only offer that perhaps the ghost is restless.

DISCIPLE LUKAN PANIUT

I am but a simple minister and have never been attached to any of the more militant orders. The idea of fighting anything fills my heart with dread. I can only imagine the safest approach to dealing with a ghost is discovering what injustice or unfinished business leaves it restless, and seeking to redress the problem. Perhaps this is naive….

TOPIC: Radulesc Family

If the players ask about the name Radulesc or about the Radulesc family.

DISCIPLE LUKAN PANIUT

I have heard the name Radulesc. It is on some of the tombstones in the cemetery. A family from the Imperial Era I would imagine. Perhaps more information can be found in our records - would you like to look at them?

TOPIC: Radulesc Tomb

If the players ask specifically about a Radulesc Tomb, he will not know specifically, but will share his general knowledge of the Brimstone Tomb.

DISCIPLE LUKAN PANIUT

I have not heard specifically of a Radulesc Tomb. I do know that in the late Imperial Era it was a tradition for noble families in these regions to construct crypts or tombs and that there is such a tomb some ways up the old Yellow Road once known as Ul Tumo Puciosa… the Brimstone Tomb.

TOPIC: Isolde Gwynne

If the players ask after the well-being of Isolde Gwynne, the sole survivor of the Gwynne family, he will tell all he knows, then ask them to join him in prayer.

DISCIPLE LUKAN PANIUT

Sadly, the young girl is orphaned now - her whole family having succumbed. She awakens every night with screaming terrors, and has not spoken since her recovery. We will care for her until she returns to good physical health, and we will see if friends or extended family will adopt her, but perhaps she will never fully recover in her heart. Please, join me in a prayer for the poor child. (he prays).

TOPIC: Ramona Surdo

If the players ask after the well-being of Ramona Surdo, he will mention she was among the first in town to fall ill.

DISCIPLE LUKAN PANIUT

Such a tragedy for the Surdo family to suffer so many deaths. Poor Ramona was the first in the family to fall ill, and among the first in town. She suffers with guilt at having brought the disease to her family. It does not help that her closest friends, the Lumanarus, have chosen in their zealousness to see the disease as a visitation of P’ut-Pa-Guhk, and judgement against sin.
